Maryann Beauchene holds a Master's Degree in Library Science
and is certified as a school library media specialist with the state of
Connecticut. She has been a 4-H member and a 4-H leader and has over 40 years
of experience working with animals
including horses, dogs, cats, chickens, rabbits, goats,
turkeys, ducks, and geese.
Her interest in therapy dog work evolved after placing her
parents in a nursing home. It was important to them to be able to maintain a
contact with animals. After her parents passed away it was a logical leap from
nursing home therapy to school based therapy and then to providing dog therapy
services for students and adults with special needs.
